Royal Canin, the UK’s leading science-based pet food brand, has launched a brand-new range of four canine supplements, scientifically formulated to support the health and wellbeing of dogs from six months of age.

Designed in a highly palatable once-a-day chew format, the supplements target common health concerns including Joint & Ageing, Digestion, Skin & Coat and Puppy Immunity & Digestion and offer a convenient and trusted solution for pet owners and veterinary professionals.

The new range marks Royal Canin’s first entry into the supplements category, reinforcing its commitment to advancing pet health through science-led innovation and has been created in collaboration with leading experts in science-based canine nutrition and backed by robust research studies. In the research phase, both the puppy and adult Digestion products were found to improve stool quality, owners observed improved skin and coat condition from using the Skin and Coat supplements for as little as 30 days and there was a significant reduction in mobility issues, as observed by owners, after using the Joint & Ageing supplement.

There is a significant opportunity for supplements, and according to a recent study from Royal Canin which surveyed 2,000 UK dog owners, one in five admit to frequently worrying about their dog’s overall health. What’s more, 77% recognised that supplements can play a vital role in supporting their pet. With this in mind, Royal Canin’s new supplement range will allow veterinary professionals and pet retailers to encourage dog owners to take a more proactive approach to pet care to help ease some of these concerns.

Each supplement is formulated with carefully selected, scientifically proven ingredients and designed to target a specific need.

  • Joints & Ageing: Supports joint comfort and promotes healthy ageing. The supplement contains green-lipped mussel as a key ingredient to help maintain healthy cartilage in ageing dogs.
  • Digestion: Contains prebiotics to help maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria and beta-glucans (postbiotics) to support healthy digestion and stool quality.
  • Skin & Coat: Formulated with Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids that nourish the skin and coat, along with Zinc and GLA to support the skin’s barrier function. Additionally, the chews include a blend of vitamins to promote healthy skin cell turnover.
  • Puppy Immunity & Digestion: Contain prebiotics and vitamins C&E to support puppy development by supporting nature defences and digestive health from six months.

Pet ownership boomed during the pandemic and many of those dogs born in 2020 are now five years old. While these pets may still act like they’re puppies, it’s advisable for owners and veterinary professionals to consider how they can best support them as they near the senior dog age, which can be as young as six years.
