One or the UK’s leading artisan ice cream manufacturers, Dorset- based Baboo Gelato is looking to raise £300,000 from investors through a Crowdfund. The campaign is running through Crowdcube for three weeks, starting on 17th November 2025.

Baboo Gelato is known for its delicious multi-award-winning range of gelato and sorbets all made from local premium ingredients (where possible) including organic milk sourced from local farms and locally grown fruits. They have also produced a leading non-dairy frozen treat for dogs called Doggy Doggy Yum Yum.

Founder Annie Hanbury said:

‘We’ve spent nearly ten years building Baboo Gelato locally in the South West, and now we want to take the brand nationwide.  With the super-premium market of ice cream growing 8% per annum, and consumers wanting indulgent treats, we think it is an exciting time to be expanding.  Investors can buy into Baboo Gelato via Crowdcube for as little as £10’.

Co-founder Sam Hanbury added:

‘We’ve had an exciting year, winning not one but two prestigious Three Star awards from the Guild of Fine Food, bringing our total haul to 51 Great Taste stars since we started.  We’ve also seen our trade customers nearly triple in sales to £646,000 since 2021, and we’ve started to make Baboo available through a major South West distributor.

“Our dog ice cream, Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is distributed through a major pet wholesaler and has won many awards including Best New Product in the Pedigree Wholesale Awards 2021, two Highly Commended certificates in the PetQuip Awards 2022 and 2025 and was voted Best Pet Treat of the Year in 2024 at the Pet Industry Federation Awards. The pet market is worth over £10 billion to the UK economy in 2024 and the frozen treat market for pets has grown quite significantly as well over recent years as shops, cafes, hotels and restaurants all want to get their hands on the poochie pound.”

Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is available in two flavours, Banana and Peanut Butter and Apple and Blueberry. It is made from coconut milk instead of dairy so it is kinder to dogs’ tummies, includes organic agave syrup rather than refined sugars and uses vegetable fibre as a stabiliser which avoids any ultra processed food emulsifiers or stabilisers being used in the product. Given as an occasional treat after a long walk in the countryside, the park or on the beach this tasty treat is perfect way to reward your dog. 5p from every tub sold of Doggy Doggy Yum Yum is also donated to the Dogs for Good charity.

Baboo Gelato operates six seaside outlets across Dorset, generating £1.2mn of sales which see a busy trade throughout the year particularly during the summer when the tourists arrive. Their ice creams are in nearly 400 stockists, and this is growing daily.

As part of the Crowdcube offer, participating investors can receive rewards like vouchers, tote bags, free gelato, lab tours, and even the Willie Wonka opportunity to design their own flavour.  For more information anyone interested needs to register with Crowdcube.  The standard investment warnings should be noted.
