The brand is popular with independent pet stores
Bugalugs Pet Care, the UK-based pet care brand founded in 2020, has reached a significant milestone, achieving a turnover of £20 million in the 2024/25 financial year. This impressive growth trajectory demonstrates the company’s ongoing success and commitment to delivering high-quality pet products made locally in the Lake District.
Since its inception, Bugalugs Pet Care has grown ahead of market expectations. In 2022/23, the company reported a turnover of £5.5 million, which then more than doubled to £11.7 million in the 2023/24 financial year. The company’s exceptional growth continued in 2024/25, ultimately achieving £20 million.
As the Lakeland Cosmetics Groups’ fastest-growing sub-brand, the business has made significant investments over the past three years to support Bugalugs Pet Care’s growth. This includes the expansion of production capacity through new, state-of-the-art production lines at their 37,000 square ft GMP certified manufacturing facility in Cumbria, as well as a new 17,000 square ft fulfilment warehouse. The company has also invested in expanding its sales team to meet the growing demand for its locally produced, premium pet care products.
"We are thrilled to see Bugalugs Pet Care reach this exciting milestone," said Lee Dobinson, Owner and MD of Bugalugs Pet Care. "This success is a testament to our dedicated team, the quality of our products, and the loyalty of our customers. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to maintaining the highest standards in pet care while expanding our reach both domestically and internationally."
Over the past year, Bugalugs has also significantly expanded its presence in the UK and abroad. The company’s products are now available in over 3,000 independent pet stores across the UK, and their export division has flourished with new partnerships in Dubai, Australia (through Bunnings Warehouse), and a major launch into 1,678 PetSmart stores in the USA. In the UK, Bugalugs has expanded its distribution through a new partnership with Tesco, alongside continuing to strengthen their existing relationships with Pets at Home, Boots, Waitrose, Asda, Jollyes and Sainsburys to name but a few, ensuring greater accessibility for its dedicated consumer base.
"We are excited about the future," added Lee Dobinson. "Our partnership with Tesco and expansion into international markets in the USA, Dubai, and more recently, Germany, are key steps in our strategy to make Bugalugs Pet Care products accessible to pet lovers around the world."
As Bugalugs Pet Care continues to innovate and expand, the company remains committed to producing locally made products that are both high-quality and environmentally sustainable, using water sourced directly from the Lake District.
