The brand is not the only one impacted by fake goods and are letting others in the industry know
Company of Animals (COA) has issued an update on the ongoing investigation into counterfeit Halti products, following coordinated raids by the City of London Police that resulted in arrests and the seizure of substantial volumes of counterfeit pet accessories.
The issue was first uncovered in late 2023, when COA identified that tens of thousands of counterfeit Halti Leads, Headcollars, and Harnesses were being sold on Amazon UK by unauthorised third-party sellers. These were not low-grade imitations, but full-scale replicas designed to mimic genuine packaging and branding. Unlike authentic Halti products, however, they failed to meet COA’s strict safety and quality standards, posing risks to pets and undermining consumer trust.
Investigation and Police Action
- COA’s internal investigation traced the counterfeits back through the supply chain, with evidence pointing to manufacturing operations in China
- The company catalogued key differences between genuine and counterfeit units, tracked inventory through Amazon’s distribution network, and identified multiple UK-based sellers
- Up to 58,000 counterfeit units were believed to have entered the UK market, infringing COA’s trademarks and design rights
- After limited initial engagement from authorities, COA compiled a comprehensive evidentiary dossier, which was adopted by the City of London Police in early 2024
On 16 July 2025, COA’s Chief Operating Officer, Jaeden Iddon, and Group Supply Chain Manager, Blair Bolton, accompanied officers during multiple coordinated raids across commercial and residential premises. Arrests were made and thousands of counterfeit Halti products were seized. Examination of the seized goods confirmed them as identical to previously identified counterfeits.
In addition to Halti products, counterfeit items from other leading pet brands, were also discovered. COA has since reached out to these companies to support industry-wide collaboration and awareness.
Jaeden Iddon, Chief Operating Officer, commented: "Counterfeit products aren’t just a business problem, they put pets and owners at risk. Halti has earned global trust through its safety and quality standards, and these counterfeits undermined that. We are proud of our team’s persistence in pursuing this case and grateful to the City of London Police for their decisive action."
COA will continue to work closely with the City of London Police and Crown Prosecution Service as the case progresses. The company will maintain collaboration with other affected brands to advocate for stronger industry safeguards against counterfeit activity.
Consumer Safety Advice
Dog owners should look out for the following signs that a product may be counterfeit:
- Poor quality or damaged packaging
- Blurry images on packaging
- Spelling or grammar errors
- Instructions missing or not provided in English
- Poor quality stitching on leads
The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) advises anyone who is concerned that their dog has consumed counterfeit supplements to contact their vet immediately.
If consumers suspect they have purchased a counterfeit dog product online, report it to both the retailer and the genuine brand.
