Latest news from The Horses Inside out Anatomy Exhibition...

The Horses Inside Out Anatomy Exhibition 2024 is a must-see for every equestrian and anatomy enthusiast. It brings together skeletons, bones, anatomical specimens, models, resources and drawings on display- and it's all available at Loughborough University on February 17th and 18th, 2024.

This exhibition rivals parts of the Natural History Museum, with a variety of skeletons, specimens, and anatomical models revealing the fascinating structure, anatomy, asymmetries, anomalies, and pathologies of the horse.

The theme of this year's exhibition is growth and development. Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of skeletons, including yearlings, a four-year-old, a middle-aged horse, and a veteran. They can also learn about the tendons and ligaments of the lower limb through an air-dried equine forelimb, and see a variety of anatomical head models, including Gillian Higgins's own 3D printed model of a horse's head, Poseidon.

In addition to the specimens, visitors will also have the opportunity to try their hand at assembling two magnetic models of the carpus and tarsus, the two most complicated joints in the horse.

“We believe that understanding the inside of a horse is vital for any equestrian,” said Gillian. “With greater understanding comes greater insight and that can influence training, injury management, injury prevention, well being, welfare and so much more. Whilst learning about this in books and online is useful, there's nothing like seeing everything up close to put it into perspective. That's why we are so excited to share our Horses Inside Out Anatomy Exhibition with everyone in February. It really is incredible.”

The Horses Inside Out Anatomy Exhibition 2024 will take place on February 17th and 18th, 2024 at the Holywell Conference Centre at Loughborough University. Prices for early bird start at £25 to £40 for those who book nearer the time. Tickets are available for purchase now at https://www.horsesinsideout.com/anatomy-exhibition
