Yarrah, the Dutch organic pet food brand, has set up a UK subsidiary. The company, which is also celebrating its 30-year birthday, is focused on driving distribution in the British market.

The UK business will be based in the Cotswolds, operating out of Cirencester. Following a decade of growth of organic sales, the company believes there is a significant opportunity to appeal to UK customers. Bas van Tongeren, the CEO, predicts that organic sales in the UK will accelerate in line with those of other European markets. “The organic category in the UK is now worth over ₤3bn and has grown each year since 2008. British people are more than ever concerned about health and quality food and this naturally extends to their pets”, says Bas.
In Europe, Yarrah is the most established organic pet food brand. It believes that organic farming provides the highest level of food quality and animal welfare standards. Yarrah UK’s director, Ben Hutton, believes that customers have two priorities that Yarrah can satisfy. “Organic food has been shown to be really good for the health of your pet, and also for the planet. Pet owners increasingly want pet food brands to not only provide top quality nutrition but also sustainable recipes and packaging”.
Yarrah is celebrating 30 years in business in 2022. In that time it has developed a wide range of pet food, including plant-based recipes for dogs. It believes that its commitment to quality food and farming practices is the reason why it has never had a recall since it was established. Virtually all its packaging is recyclable. In the UK, it scores 100% rating from The Good Shopping Guide, and in 2018 it became a B-Corp brand. B-Corp is an organization for companies that wish to use business more compassionately as a force for good.
